Scheme Overview

WHAT THE SCHEME IS

CMCHIS is Tamil Nadu's health insurance scheme for economically vulnerable
families. It began in July 2009 as Kalaignar Kaappittu Thittam, is operated by
United India Insurance Company under the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project
(TNHSP), and the scheme's own portal records coverage of about 1.48 crore
families as of 2024, continuing through 2027. It runs alongside Ayushman Bharat
PM-JAY.

WHAT IT PAYS FOR

Treatment is cashless at empanelled government and private hospitals. The list of
treatments and the amount payable for each is published as the Scheme Health
Benefit Packages on the official portal, together with the empanelled hospital
list — check those before assuming a particular treatment or a particular
hospital is covered. TN JOBS does not restate a coverage figure here, because the
official portal does not state one on its public pages.

A NOTE ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE

The scheme's official website is cmchistn.com — it carries the Government of
Tamil Nadu identity and the TNHSP project office address, but it is not a
.gov.in address. That is why this listing does not carry the TN JOBS
"official domain verified" tick. The helpline printed on that site is
1800 425 3993.

This page is not an application form, and TN JOBS does not collect applications
for any scheme.

Eligibility

GENERAL CATEGORY
- The annual family income must be less than Rs.1,20,000
  (G.O. (Ms) No. 560, Health & Family Welfare Department (HFW1-1), 16.12.2021).

WHO CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE FAMILY
- The legally married spouse.
- The children.
- Dependent parents.

The names of all eligible family members must be in the family ration card.

The official portal also lists special category requirements — check it for your
situation.

How to Apply

AS SET OUT ON THE OFFICIAL PORTAL
1. Obtain a valid income certificate from the Village Administrative Officer.
2. Keep the family ration card and Aadhaar card ready.
3. Visit the card-issuing centre at the District Collector's Office.
4. Complete verification and collect your CMCHIS card.

Enrolment services, the enrolment form and the beneficiary search are on the
official portal, and the helpline is 1800 425 3993.

WARNINGS
- The government charges no fee for this scheme. Do not pay any agent or
  middleman, and do not pay anyone who offers to "get it sanctioned" for you.
- No official will ask you for your OTP, ATM PIN or bank password.
- Do not enter your details on links forwarded through WhatsApp or Telegram.
  Check that the address ends in .gov.in before typing anything.
- TN JOBS does not accept applications for this or any other scheme, and will
  never ask you for money or documents.
